The Role

Based at our Newcastle office, you will take part in a 3-year graduate programme with Fairstone. Your main role is to identify and engage with IFA business owners across the UK which would be candidates for potential partnership and eventual acquisition.

Qualifications

 

  • You will be responsible for the management of information collected through prospecting activities and be expected to utilise and improve upon a database of prospect information.
  • You will act as the initial point of contact with the business owners and support the wider team throughout the acquisition process.

 

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • An understanding of the financial advice space, regulatory environment and investment management processes and systems would be useful but not essential.
  • A good analytical mindset, with high attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure when required.
  • The ability to work and collaborate as part of a team.
  • The ability to present information and results to senior management in a concise and consistent manner.
  • Experience in a result driven environment.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues and clients.

 

  • Degree level (or equivalent) of either under graduate or post-graduate qualifications are essential.
  • Subject areas related to finance are useful but not essential.

Development Structure

Year 1

  • Spend time in each of the key business units.
  • Responsible for sourcing growth opportunities for Fairstone by engaging with business owners who are exploring the next phase of their growth and potential sale of their business.
  • Have an excellent understanding of Fairstone & our partnership and acquisition model, outline the key points to prospective sellers.
  • Identify key information through discussion and arrange for an M&A Partner to follow-up on any suitable opportunities.
  • Assisting Senior team with ad hoc tasks arising as a deal matures.
  • Accurate reporting of KPIs to Directors in the business.

 

Year 2

  • Understanding the type of businesses Fairstone are looking to partner with and acquire, key knockout factors and any potential pitfalls that might impact on the ability of that acquisition completing.
  • Completing introductory meetings.
  • Arrange, plan and manage discovery days.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and improvement of a database which assists Fairstone identify future acquisitive opportunities.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of other acquires in the market.
  • Complete PRINCE2.

 

Year 3

  • Maintain up to date knowledge of other acquirers in the market and have a good understanding of the acquisition models available
  • Complete deals from first contact to HOT
  • Maintenance, improvement & development of internal system
  • Ensure you follow all business area plans, policies, processes, procedures, and practices to manage conduct risk and generate good client outcomes
