The role

We are recruiting for an experienced technical paraplanner to join our friendly team.

Applicants should have paraplanning experience and be fully diploma qualified. The ideal person will have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail as well as enjoying working to processes and procedures. They should be comfortable working as part of a team, as well as equally as confident working on their own.

Experience working within financial services is essential.

Key responsibilities

The ideal person

 

  • To provide close effective technical and administrative support for the financial planning team.
  • Write comprehensive recommendation reports i.e. investments, pensions and IHT, BPR within agreed timescales ensuring a quality standard.
  • Conduct necessary research, obtain information, quotes, illustrations and product details, and provide comparisons for analysis.
  • Run carry forward, taper annual allowance, lifetime allowance and CGT and IHT calculations including residence nil rate band taper.
  • Analysing clients circumstances to produce specific estate planning recommendation – e.g. discretionary trust, bare trust, discounted gift trust, loan trust, BPR.
  • Assist in identifying areas for planning and identify solutions suitable to meet the client’s needs and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance standards and organisational requirements are met.
  • Liaise with advisers to make sure they complete all necessary paperwork in order to write the reports, and to ensure they are checked in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all research documentation is on file and that records are organised appropriately.
  • Fully understand the clients compliance procedures, maintain and comply with back-office processes.

 

  • Have an understanding of the financial planning process.
  • Able to achieve agreed outcomes without supervision.
  • Be self-motivated and have the ability to prioritise and plan their own workload.
  • Have high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients and build strong relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Have good IT skills being fully competent.
  • Ability to assess information, make comparisons and identify critical features.
  • Ability to acquire update and apply new skills and knowledge.
  • Set own goals and want to deliver agreed targets.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with strong organisational skills to plan and manage own workload and prioritise tasks as appropriate.
