The Role

The senior training and development manager is responsible for assisting the head of training and development alongside the supervision, coaching and the supporting of a designated allocation of advisers and investment managers within Fairstone, which is achieved by the monitoring of specific KPI’s and management of adviser competence.

The senior training and development manager will work closely with the head of training and development, group compliance director, regional compliance mangers as well as the wider compliance team and business quality function, to ensure consistency of the service delivered to the advisers and investment managers.

  • Act as a mentor for the team.
  • Collate and provide regular MI for the head of T & D and compile Governance Committee reports.
  • Undertake both remote and face to face compliance and supervision coaching with advisers in line with the firms business practice manual, directives and training and development scheme.
  • Work closely with newly onboarded firms to ensure smooth transition to Fairstone liaising with the onboarding team.
  • Assess advisers training needs and document through the training needs analysis document.
  • Create and manage support and training plans for advisers with training needs.
  • Assist the head of training and development to ensure that statutory training requirements are met.
  • Provide updates on trainee progression, general attitude and adherence to company policies and procedures, including thorough documentation on the progression towards CAS.
  • Supervise, coach and mentor trainee advisers (or those deemed as non-competent).
  • Define and provide evidence (record keeping) of competence through detailed 121 meeting notes, for all authorided advisers, both attaining and maintaining competence.
  • Assist on adhoc projects as and when required.
  • Undertake any further duties determined as reasonable and necessary in fulfilment of role.
  • Recommend improvements in process and changes that drive efficiencies without materially impacting risk profile. Objective will be measured by proposals put forward and agreed by the group compliance director.
  • Be mindful in the design and execution of T&D processes, the requirements of the consumer duty obligations.

 

  • Liaise with the partnership and central compliance team at the point of appointment of new advisers.
  • Identification of root cause issues through communications/relationship building with the wider business.
  • Effective management of any areas of concern – ie reviews over 90 days.
  • Work effectively with the wider compliance team such as the regional compliance managers and wider compliance team.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal departments and national / partnership teams.
  • Attend internal meetings and effectively represent the training and development team where necessary.
  • Seek out improved process where relevant and share as appropriate for continuity across the team.
  • Evidence collaboration and discretion in day to day performance of the role.
  • Support and work collaboratively with the head of T & D retaining that reporting line.
  • Evidence integrity and counsel in operation of the role.
  • Be a role model regarding behaviours for the team members.
  • Display leadership qualities and an ability to alter characteristics to get the best out of different personalities within that team.
  • Work on a ‘best for the team and organisation’ basis.
  • A ‘can do’ positive attitude.
